The paper prosed an alternative form of digital money. What if there was a digital money that is not controlled by a central party but rather provides individuals with sovereignty of their own funds like the ownership of physical gold did? A public commodity that exists out in the world with no central issuer and that is accessible to anybody with an internet connection. A digital money that is the hardest form of money to ever exist where its money supply is predefined and transparent, and cannot be altered by anybody. A digital money that is instantaneously transferable across international borders, divisible into the smallest fractions needed, and for which authenticity is easily verified. A digital money that does not require trust in central parties or its participants.
This is what Bitcoin accomplishes and its implications might be massive.
Below you will find the very first public post of Satoshi Nakamoto in which he shares his whitepaper for Bitcoin on a cryptography and p2p forum.
